Court fines scrap dealer for attempting to steal

An 18-year old Scrap seller has been fined GH¢960.00 for struggling to steal 2 Multi-TV decoders and a television set.

In nonpayment, the Offender, Haruna Sumaila, would serve 30 days imprisonment in hard labor.

He pleaded embarrassed to stealing and unlawful entry.

Take legal action, Detective Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah, told the Law court, chaired over by Mr Justice Emmanuel Bart-Plange Brew, that the plaintiff is Reverend James Nti Bediako, a Methodist Church Priest at Wassa Akropong in the Amenfi East Region while the offender is a Scrap Dealer.

Chief Inspector Amponsah said when he returned home around 21;30 hours, he realized that the flat screen television set in his hall had been placed at the arrival of the house.

He said Rev Bediako continued to the hall and met Sumaila holding two sets of his Multi-TV decoders and when he asked him what he was doing with the items, the offender could not offer any real clarification.

The offender was detained and handed over to the police for trial.

The prosecutor said Sumaila confessed the offence in his restraint statement and asked for forgiveness.
