Ghanaian-Hungarian duo, RedRed

RedRed, the Ghanaian-Hungarian duo, otherwise known as Accra-born MC M3NSA and Budapest maker ELO, have shared a concurrently humorous and profoundly genuine music video for their new track “How Far,” debuting today on THUMP. It is intended to correspond with Ghana’s most recent celebration of 59 years of Independence from Colonial Rule, provokingly asking how much things have truly enhanced in the present day.

ELO’s production for the Song exchanges between a strained yet open, half-time 808 pattern and a more propulsive four-on-the-floor section making up the chorus of the song, in a style the duo RedRed have beforehand described as “African Electronic Dance Music”.

In the meantime, the video finds the singer exploring the city and performing various distinctive word related roles, first seen as non military personnel, then as a minister, a soldier, and a specialist.

The lyrics of the song deals with themes of political debasement and weakened framework, exclusively asking, ‘What kind of foundation, we fabricate give the kiddies demma future?’ M3NSA investigates religion as a method for appeasing mainstream contradict, and reprimands pioneers for manhandling their positions of power: ‘Gone are the days when your big English go fit deceive me/We no go fit send you make you go parliament lair go wheeze! For what reason?’

M3NSA offered THUMP an amplified clarification of the duo’s goals with the track by means of email:

‘6th of March, the Ghana’s Independence Day. The day Ghanaians stop and inquire as to whether they’re better off since picking up independence from their colonial heads or in the event that it’s all only a sham. Furthermore, generally the answer is the last mentioned.

‘This is not on the grounds that they would rather endure under colonial rule, but since they for the most part feel let down by their own particular picked pioneers’.
