Groceries were knocked over as the ground shook in Christchurch, New Zealand Sunday from a 5.7 Magnitude Earthquake.
Photos taken along the coast of country’s South Island’s show clouds of billowing dust from cliffs that collapsed into the sea.
There were no injuries or major damage in the downtown area, but resident were visibly shaken.
The quake struck only days before the anniversary of the 2011 earthquake that killed some 200 people and left the city in tatters.
Fire officials say people are still getting over it.
“…Nothing major of serious consequence but of course, you know, the memories of the past obviously need to be taken care of.”
The city’s mayor said while residents may feel vulnerable….
“What we have to take from this is that our city is stronger than it was five years ago, is better able to respond.”
Civil Defence authorities said there was no tsunami threat to New Zealand.
