20. John F. Kennedy

“No, you certainly can’t”.

Those were President Kennedy’s final words after the wife of then-Governor John Connelly said, “You certainly cannot say that the people of Dallas haven’t given you a nice welcome, Mr. President.” Moments after that remark, President Kennedy was shot to death by Lee Harvey Oswald.

19. James Dean

“That guy’s gotta stop… He’ll see us.”

Dean said this to his friend Rolf Wütherich, moments before the fatal car crash that took the Rebel Without a Cause star’s life. He was a well loved actor known for his sense of style and looks, and is still missed to this day.

“I’m going away tonight”.

Those were the final words the late godfather of soul said to his manager, Charles Bobbit, minutes before he passed away and left millions of heartbroken music fans.

17. Karl Marx

“Go on, get out – last words are for fools who haven’t said enough.”

The german revolutionary died of pleurisy in his London home. His tombstone is etched with the final words from The Communist Manifesto, “Working Men of All Countries, Unite!”.

Wayne said this to his wife right before he died.

15. Elvis Presley

“I’m going to the bathroom to read.”

The King was later found dead in his own bathroom, after overdosing on prescription drugs. Many believe he’s still alive and walking among us.

Lennon was shot by Mark David Chapman in front of his New York home, not long after signing an autograph for his own murderer, who pretended to be an innocent fan.

Smith was nicknamed ‘The Empress of the Blues’, and was one of the most popular blues and jazz singers in the early 20th century. She died in a car crash, with her lover, Richard Morgan, at the wheel.

“Don’t you dare ask God to help me.”

The iconic actress said this to her housekeeper after she started praying aloud, moments before Crawford died. Two days before her death, Crawford gave her beloved Shih Tzu, “Princess Lotus Blossom”, away, fearing she was too weak to care for it.

“You’re right. It’s time. I love you all.”

The Little House On The Prairie and Bonanza star died of pancreatic cancer, when he was only 54.

10. Oscar Wilde

“The wallpaper and I are fighting a duel to the death. One or the other of us has to go.”

The poet, writer and playwright died of cerebral meningitis when he was only 46, after spending two years in jail for “gross indecency”.

9. Rock Hudson

“No. I don’t believe so.”

Hudson said this to his partner, Tom Clark, who asked if he wanted more coffee. Hudson later died of AIDS, six weeks before his 60th birthday.

8. Marvin Gaye

“Mother, I’m going to get my things and get out of this house. Father hates me and I’m never coming back.”

Gaye was shot to death by his own father.

President Washington died of what was described as a “violent inflammation of the throat” by his  physician.

The iconic funnyman died of pneumonia in 1977.

Jobs’ sister, Mons Simpson, who was by her brother’s side, said he seemed sorry to leave his family, and was breathing very heavily and purposely right before he died, as if he was climbing.
