As my first blog post, I would like to signify my favorite picture. In the later summer months, my house was visited by numerous hummingbirds fueling up for the long journey before the cold weather. It took many tries to get the hummingbird to stay long enough for a clear shot. Each time it would come near and like to observe me then fly off into the trees at 25-30 mph. Every time the hummingbird heard the shutter of my camera it would fly off; it would take a couple more minutes for it to obtain enough bravery to come near me another time. I admire this picture especially because of the contrast: between the clarity of the birds body against the speedy blurriness of it's wings, and the hummingbirds' focus against the blurry and cloudy background of the sky and trees. I think the picture creates a peaceful perception that can only be achieved by the simplicity of nature.
