thursday spot: desertine atostogos

Hey guys,

my journey to find the perfect Breakfast spot began some time ago now, so today I'm glad to introduce you to my new discovery - Desertinė Atostogos. They specialise in desserts (which I haven't tried yet unfortunately) but also serve breakfast on weekends, so naturally I was very excited to finally book a Table there. Yes, first thing you need to know - book a table because the place is very small and weekend breakfasts are the thing right now in Vilnius!

Let's get to food business then! I ordered curd pancakes (I have no idea how 'varškėčiai' translates into English properly, sorry!) and they were dreamy. Very soft inside and had crust on the outside - I loved them. I wish that they came with more berries though, I only got a couple as a decoration but there should have been more I think. I also ordered a latte, which I wasn't so pleased with, I'd much rather order a coffee from Taste Map, which is next door and eat breakfast in Atostogos haha! However, my friend ordered a tea and we were very pleasantly surprised that they had Teapigs tea. I fell in love with the brand when I was living in England some time ago so I am glad I'll be able to go an have a perfect cup of chai tea when I am up for it!

My boy ordered eggs benedict, which are probably my favourite breakfast meals ever and I usually go for them most of the time (not this time though obviously). He reported that they were very tasty. I definitely can vouch for that because I wasn't allowed to have a single bite, which means a lot, haha!

Finally a little and atmosphere and prices. Truth to be told, I was a little surprised when we came and the table we booked was essentially three tall chairs next to something that looked like a bar table. The place was fully booked with only one table free and another became available when we were already eating. Don't get me wrong, I really liked the interior of the cafe but it just wasn't very cosy. Maybe it was because it was three of us and we had to sit in a row, which made it difficult to see everyone and talk properly. I'd suggest booking a proper table if you come with more than three people (they have only one!) and in general I think this place is the best choice to go for if you're a group of two.
For me personally, the prices were okay-ish, but it could be a little cheaper. 7 euros for the eggs is fine with me because I get to fulfill my hunger but my boy wasn't so happy cause it just wasn't a big enough portion in his books.

All in all, I will come back there for desserts for sure and I'd definitely recommend to go there to have a breakfast date because the food quality is indeed very very good + the staff is just the loveliest around. :)
