Top 10 Most Expensive Beanie babies

Ahh, those glorious 90’s. A decade that spanned some incredible rock bands, some horrible fashion, favorite TV programs, and the appearance of the Beanie Babies. Beanie what? These extremely popular stuffed toys are still available today, but they were a huge sensation throughout the decade mentioned before. It was developed by Ty Warner Inc., and what makes this toy so peculiar is that contrary to the most conventional stuffing, such as PVC and PE, they are stuffed with plastic pellets (or “beans”) giving it a soft look. When it first emerged on scene, there were nine original Beanie Babies: Legs the Frog, Squealer the Pig, Spot the Dog, Flash the Dolphin, Splash the Whale, Chocolate the Moose, Patti the Platypus, Brownie the Bear (later renamed “Cubbie”), and Pinchers the Lobster (with some tag errors with “Punchers”).  However, it soon grew in popularity in the United States, and many more Beanie Babies were produced. Due to the rarity of some models, there are some that cost a lot. As soon as you see the top list, you will notice that all the prices are pretty similar, except the one from the number one spot. We recommend you see it for yourself before we spoil anything. Without further ado, here you have the most expensive Beanie Babies.

Do you know which are the most expensive Beanie Babies?

  1. Humphrey

this funny camel was part of the first generation of Beanies, and also one of the first to be retired. It costs around $500- $1,200. You can always expect the first ones to be the most expensive ones, which is why you see this one on the list. If you ever see a sample of this beanie baby, you should be surprised, for these are immensely rare.

  1. M.C Beanie

This bear for MasterCard applicants was produced from 2001 to 2002. It was the first Beanie Baby with the word “Beanie” in its name, according to the Ty Collector website. The version with a brown nose is rarer. It costs around $500-$1,500. Again, these products that are only produced for a Limited Amount of time and a limited amount of people are the ones that remain pricey. As you can see, this stuffed bear went from being almost worthless when it was released to having a $1,500 price tag.

  1. Patti (original 9 with Korean Tags) (Platypus)

One of the original nine Beanie Babies, this platypus with Korean tush tags was made for a short time in 1993. It costs around $600-$1,500. So, not only was this one of the first ones to be released into the market but was launched for a limited amount of time. So, following the rule we stated previously, this beanie baby is worth big money.

  1. Hong Kong Toy Fair 2010 (Bear)

Exclusive Beanie Babies have been made for the Hong Kong toy show since 2010. Again, the exclusivity of these Beanies has helped increase their value to collectors. It costs around $800-$1,500. If you want to sell a product at a ridiculously high price, all you have to do is create is a particular event for a limited amount of time and you will be set. Your product doesn´t have to be anything special or outstanding; it just has to be exclusive.

  1. Chef Robuchon

The Chef Robuchon bear was introduced in August 2006 for the opening of the L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon restaurant at the Four Seasons Hotel in New York. Only about 200 of the bears were produced. This particular bear can cost up to $1,500-$2,000. When you read the sentence “only 200 of these were made” you know they´re going to be expensive. And that is exactly what makes people buy a stuffed animal of over $1,500.
