Have you ever watched a Movie and either covered your eyes or squinted to keep what was on the screen from burning an indelible memory into your brain? Have you ever been desperate to avoid untold horror and misery in a movie, only for curiosity to get the better of you?

There are some Movie Scenes that stay with us forever. They may be violent, emotional, sexual or just plain nasty, but we simply can’t help ourselves. Inquisitiveness is part of human nature, and it can be a right pain in the ass at times. If you’ve watched any of these seven movies with almost unwatchable scenes, you’ll know what I’m talking about.

7. Deliverance (1972)

Even today, people who haven’t seen John Boorman’s Deliverance know those infamous words: “I bet you can squeal like a pig!”
Within a film that pits city goers against rural folk, never is the theme more clear than when Ned Beatty’s character Bobby gets assaulted by a nasty mountain man.

One of the backwoods hillbillies of the film begins to humiliate and intimidate Bobby by making him strip, but quickly the sinister nature of his games become clear. Soon enough, the mountain man’s got Bobby on his stomach, nose pulled up like a pig and making him squeal like one. There’s nothing overly graphic about this scene yet it leaves a brand on the brain. All the while, Jon Voight’s character Ed watches on in horror held hostage by another man.

Things almost get worse following the rape, as one of the men admires Ed and his “pretty mouth”. The tension runs high until Lewis, played by an uber-masculine Burt Reynolds, swoops in to take control. But the whole sequence is an exercise in feeling uncomfortable. A necessary scene in a story that’s full of layers, though, it really tries the viewer’s will. And once you see it, camping in the woods won’t ever be the same.
