Pre wedding – when I was a kid, I always like to see couples taking picture together in the river or somewhere beautiful before their Wedding day. That’s what we call ‘pre wedding session’. What’s the purpose of Pre Wedding actually? It’s a form of art of expressing the couple’s love. Couples want to capture the memories of their love. So someday they’re gonna see the pictures again and remember the love they have that they should cherish and keep every time. A form of art because they add beautiful background, beautiful attire, and also nice photo concept. To choose a photo concept is an interesting one. Here’s why.
It’s a pleasure for us to meet Andy and Yuli. Andy, after the meeting, we knew that he is apparently from the same town with Dicky so they have a lot in common to talk about their original city, Purwokerto. And Yuli, a cute small lady is very eye catching with her lively and active personality. The first meeting, we talked about their pre wedding concept, how they wanted it to be and where. Yuli told me that she had a dream of going to Belitung someday. Belitung is a separate island in southern part of the big Sumatera island. She always saw the ad about Belitung and the scenery on the media but never stepped her feet on the island before. I think for a natural photo concept for a pre wedding, Belitung is really a good island for pre wedding.
So when we thought of making Belitung as the pre wedding location and their schedule can be arranged to go there, it was like a dream come true for Yuli. As for Andy, as long as it could please his little princess, he would say yes. The man is so simple and he has big love for his fiancee. That really shows if you meet the couple. The man would always want to make her happy as there is naturally no objection at all in his mind about it. I think they are really meant to be together. Yuli can always make him smile and laugh with her cuteness and personality. She can make him fall in love everyday. Hence, I knew I would have a good time with them in their pre wedding shoot.
What an Island
We went to Belitung in a month that’s supposedly a rainy season in Indonesia. However, as you know all, that all the weather cycle is messed up now so we can still hope for a clear sky and friendly weather, at least for us, the couple, photographer, and crew in aim of awesome pre wedding shots. We flew to Belitung and the moment we arrived there, I was struck by the beauty of serene ambiance that the island has. The wind that’s so island-typical. It was dry yet frequent. The island is not dense with people or housing. The building is rare and not that narrow to each other. You can say it they are here and there. They still use zinc as the roof as it is low maintenance. Besides the rare housing all you can see is bush and bush and bush with sea view among the tree leaves and bushes. Perfect!
It’s a small island, really. Our GPS didn’t work there. Thank God, we have a skillful driver who knew all the places we wanted to go there. But then every time we were in the car we kept looking right and left, there are actually so many good beaches here for a pre wedding. Yuli didn’t even want to close her eyes even a second to rest, she was busy looking at the magnificent sea view in the far side from us. It is really a dream island, far from the hustle and bustle, with wide sea view, clean sea water and big sea stones. The people here are mainly tin miner, fisherman, some are traders.
Not only do we do pre wedding shoot here, but we also did a seafood culinary travel! Guess what? We ate crab EVERY DAY. That was not the usual crab we found in Jakarta but this one was very thick so we had longer time to enjoy every chunk of it. The way they cooked it was also special, a typical way of islanders cook seafood: rich with spice and bold in taste. Top notch! Even now I miss that pre wedding cum culinary travel.
Memorable Pre Wedding
I never regret going there. Belitung beach is famous for its big sea stones and clean sea water. During the pre wedding shoot, we thanked God for the weather was very conducive yet the consequence was a super hot weather. Belitung has unique weather, though. It was really windy every night and it was quite chill while in the afternoon in summer, it was hot, very hot sometimes. Other unique fact from this pre wedding session with Andy and Yuli is the ones in the lighthouse. It was challenging! We took the staircase (no elevator there) to the 17th level. That’s quite a sacrifice to have good pre wedding shots though Well done, Andy and Yuli. We’re so looking forward to going there again with our clients.
