As per hindu panchang, on the 8th day of Paush month, Krishna paksh, Rukmani Ashtmi is celebrated with great joy. Devotees of krishna and rukmani perform special worship on this day to attract the blessings of divine powers.
Rukmani is said to be the incarnation of goddess laxmi and is the first wife of lord kirshna who is said to be the incarnation of lord vishnu as per hindu mythology. On the auspicious occasion of rukmani Ashtmi we can see mob in krishna temple, iskon temple specially in mathura, vrindavan, gowardhan etc.
Rukmani was the daughter of king bhishmka who was the ruler of Vidharbha. She fall in love with Krishna and wanted to marry with him and her parents also agree for this but his brother don't.
Krishna take away rukmani from a temple secretly becasue of her devotional love and fulfilled her with to marry him.

It is also a belief that if fast and worship is done on this day then goddess bless devotees with peace and prosperity. Therefore people keep fast and whole day and night chant the mantra of krishna and rukmaniji.

In actual it is not good to worship her alone and so devotees worship both rukmaniji and krishna together. Devotees offer different types of bhog, dhoop, deep and chant mantra , bhajan whole day and night. Some distribute sweets in krishna temple to celebrate the birthday of Rukmaniji.
