The Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor starrer 2 States is the screen adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s novel that was published in the year 2009. The Film is directed by debutant director Abhishek Varman, who has assisted on films like ‘My name is Khan’ and ‘Student of the year’. Karan Johar and Sajid Nadiadwala are co-producing the film and UTV Motions Pictures is presenting it worldwide. The trailer of the movie was launched at PVR Cinemas Juhu, which was also the venue of the trailer launch of Alia Bhatt’s debut movie, Student of the year. Speaking about what has changed since, she said, “I remember when we were here, Karan was very nervous. He was very nervous about us being on stage. And even today, he was nervous about me coming on stage and talking. So nothing much has changed on that front. As an actor, I have definitely learnt a lot.”
The 20 year old has not only been experimenting with the characters she is playing in her films, but also with her looks. In her debut film ‘Student of the Year’, she played a glamorous diva and wore designer western clothes. She was completely de-glammed for her second release Highway, which was directed by Imtiaz Ali and co-presented by Sajid Nadiadwala. For 2 States, Alia is working with ace designer Manish Malhotra. She is playing a Tamilian Bhrahmin girl in the movie, but will not be seen only in typical South Indian attire. She is a modern girl and her character is very different than the usual stereotypical South Indian characters portrayed in Bollywood. "My clothes in the film have been designed by Manish Malhotra, so I didn't have to think about it. Manish gets Indian fusion look so well," Alia told reporters at 2 States trailer launch. "The film moves to different cities, it has different looks, so we have played a lot with the look. Her look is simple yet modern," she added.
This film, which is being co-produced by Sajid Nadiadwala’s banner Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment Pvt Ltd will be released on the 18th of April 2014.
