Meditation & Sex: How Meditation Can Lead To A Better Sex Life

One of the surprising benefits of Meditation is that it can bring you closer to your significant other on both an emotional and physical level. Emotionally, meditation expands our capacity for compassion, love and understanding which in turn allows us to cultivate more meaningful relationships in our life and connect with people in a far superior way than before.

Physically, the benefits of meditation are just as potent. Meditation encourages healing that first affects our mental and spiritual health but soon leads to an improvement of our bodily health as Stress Levels are reduced, alleviating symptoms such as high blood pressure, high resting heart beat, inflammation and a poor immune system.

What then do meditation and sex have to do with each other? Well, when our stress levels are reduced as happens when we frequently practice meditation, we are far more likely to enjoy having sex and better sex is the mere consequence of being happier and more relaxed. Remember that stress may begin in the mind but it has a hugely negative impact on our physiological wellbeing. In particular the increased levels of cortisol and adrenaline that we experience when stressed decreases our sex drive and ability to perform in the bedroom. When you let go of the things that are worrying you and start to focus on the more fun, enjoyable aspects of life then you will soon learn how to have better sex.

Another reason why meditation can improve your sex life is because when you meditate you become healthier, revitalised and more energetic. This new found energy improves stamina and fitness levels which I’m sure you’ll agree is an important element of any healthy sex life! When you start to meditate your cortisol and adrenaline levels will drop and the brain will begin producing more dopamine and serotonin, the brain chemicals that make us feel happy. This increases our desire to have sex and our ability to have better orgasms.

Mindfulness has its part to play here too, for when you practice living in the moment your ability to enjoy the things you are experiencing increases substantially. Not thinking about the past and not worrying about the future heightens our sensory awareness so that we can truly appreciate what we are doing and not get too caught up in our thoughts. Mindfulness whilst having sex is no different, if you can enjoy the moment without thinking too much about other things, the connection you feel with your partner will become much deeper and the overall experience will be much more satisfactory.

So there you have it, meditation increase libido and causes us to have better sex. The benefits of meditation, it would seem, knows no bounds – it is continuously proven to make us healthier, enrich our lives and even change our love life for the better. Take advantage of this new found information and you and your partner will be on the way to becoming closer than ever.
