“I’m 35 And More Ripped Than When I Was 25:” How An L.A. Firefighter Got Ripped In Just 3 Months

“Holy ball shit!”

That was my first reaction when Tom sent me his before/after pics.

In just 3 months, Tom Merryman (a Los Angeles firefighter) has pulled off one of the most impressive Body transformations I’ve ever seen.

Tom was the 1st place winner of the Superhero Shredding 2.0 transformation contest and got shredded to the bone.

Learn how he did it in our interview below.

Can you give us a background of what your diet/workout looked like were before Superhero Shredding?

Before Superhero Shredding 2.0 I would usually be on some fad diet.

Whatever the fad was, I would try it.

There was nothing I wouldn’t give a try if it meant abs and strength…

This always failed because I never fully understood nutrition or my body.

I just thought if something worked for such and such celebrity it would work for me.

How has transforming your body affected other areas of your life?

I am a fire fighter paramedic for Los Angeles county fire dept.

That being said, my body transformation has changed everything.

I now have more energy, I feel better, and guys ask me for advice on training all the time.

What was your big WHY (your main motivation) for wanting to transform your body?

I wanted to transform my body so that i could feel better about myself.

And I have a hot wife lol…

Seriously I don’t want people asking why she is with me! I also have 4 daughters and need to look intimidating to all the boys in their lives!!

How was Superhero Shredding 2.0 different than any of your previous plans?

The previous plans I was on were always unrealistic.

For instance, one plan called for me to work out 5 days a week doing the same muscle groups twice a day!

Not going to happen.

SS 2.0 makes working out realistic and down to earth so anyone can have their best body ever.

What did your diet look like? What foods did you eat?

My diet was lots of lean meats and good carbs.

Once I understood the macros I was able to have some go to meals that fit in for me and I was able to stay on track.

I don’t have to Lift Weights Everyday and I can still feel good at the beach!!

Tom

I had a favorite that was easy made of milk, protein, banana and peanut butter.

It fit all the macros and was awesome tasting.

You just have to be smart and think ahead so you aren’t too hungry cause thats when I would make bad decisions or over eat.

I keep a couple protein bars with me just in case.

Did you take any supplements?

I take protein, a multi vitamin, a preworkout and some essential fatty acids.

Supplement brands I used:

  • Optimum Nutrition Whey
  • Orange Triad Multivitamin
  • Costco Brand Omega 3 fatty acid

I am not to fond of adding in too many supps due to the fact that I forget to take them and they are a waste of money.

How did you strength levels in the gym change (if any change)?

My strength levels all increased.

I hit some plateaus, but for the most part was able to work through them.

The lifts that went up most were bench (a total of 35 lbs) and my chin ups and dips 45 lbs each.

The program and online support are great tools if you have questions or need answers.

If you could give people looking to transform their physique one piece of advice, what would it be?

If anyone wants advise on body transformation I would send them to SS 2.0, but if I was to add to that advice it would be to trust your body.

If you crave it, eat it.

If your body is fatigued, rest it.

I am 35 and am more Ripped than when I was 25!

The biggest change for me has been understanding my body, its reaction to all the things I put it through.

I don’t have to lift weights everyday and I can still feel good at the beach!!
