Fantasy and surrealism in the illustrations by Cyril Rolando

Cyril Rolando is a self-taught french artist who makes beautiful and intriguing illustrations that mix elements of fantasy and surrealism. Cyril Roland doesn't consider himself an artist, but just a Photoshop user.

More interested in telling something than technical aspects, Rolando's illustrations generally have as characters, lost children in quest for the truth or animals, symbols of innocence and naivety in a world of fantasy where animals can talk, dreams become reality and imagination rules the world. Also, his illusttrations generally show music related objects, like an aquarium-piano, a harp made between horns or a gorilla knitting music while sitted on a piano.

With surreal illustrations that reveal us short and intriguing stories, the art of Cyril Rolando generally show us layers of comprehension, maybe a natural quality of the artist, who works as a psychologist and have the art as a hobby.
