INTRODUCTION TO THE BOOK

This book will give hope to those who may have experienced a divorce and will display a glimpse of how life can begin again with love and a “second chance” for happiness!
The story began in 1958 when two characters fall in love, a girl 15 and a boy 18.  A unique turn of events, separate them and they have no knowledge of what happened to each other for fifteen years.  The “rest of the story” begins in 1973 and you will be transported back in time to ‘fill in the blanks’ for one of the greatest love stories ever written … and without “Google”!

A pity party and a quick trip to Houston became a catalyst for a phone call that would renew that relationship and bring together a beautiful love that changed their present, future and erased the bad experiences of the past.

With a 450 mile distance between them, hundreds of letters and cards chronicle a 7 month courtship supplying information to write about their special ‘Love Story’43 years later!

Their meeting in May, 1973 was planned for two friends having dinner to reminisce and retrace the path of their relationship fifteen years before.  Misunderstanding and youthful immature actions along with a delayed proposal and a letter of explanation returned by the post office had given them a different plan of the original path they intended to follow.

An unplanned innocent kiss changed that expectation and took the occasion to a different level.  His heart experienced an awakening of deep devoted love that is rare outside of dreams.  He was clear in his desire and determination to not let Suzie slip through his fingers again, make her his wife and take care of her daughter.

Suzie went against the advice of friends and family to marry her high school sweetheart who was divorced and raising his three boys. She felt she was given a second chance at love and not willing to give it up.

It was a "gamble" to go against the odds of blending a family but with their love for God and love for each other, it paid dividends that cannot be measured!
