Some of you know I am writing a book on the the fairy tale love story that I lived with the love of my life, Odis Tyler. This is a sample of the first chapter.
Chapter One
An Initiated Plan
“ For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11 When God is directing your path, you can trust Him best by getting out of His way!

My friend JoAnn and I were on our way to Houston from Conroe late one night in April, 1973. She had called me after exchanging some hurtful words with someone and just needed to talk. She picked me up at my apartment and I put Diane, my 9 year old daughter, in the backseat of the car with a blanket. We drove to a Sonic in Houston, got something to drink, and drove back. We talked, laughed and cried and we felt a lot better. JoAnn had been divorced for a couple of years and I was in the middle of a separation and divorce proceedings. I was really having a pity party for myself that night. I told her that "no one would care about me if I died except family. At least my ‘soon to be ex’ had someone even if it was a bar room broad"... We talked about past relationships and I told her about a guy I had dated and cared deeply about. He had worked at the Texarkana Gazette and lived in a small town in Arkansas. I was fifteen, a sophomore in high school and never knew what happened to him. She said "We can find him"... In 1973, there were no personal computers, no cell phones and no ‘Google’ app. We did have directory assistance and JoAnn called and found a number for an Odis Tyler in Lonsdale, Ark.
Even though I had never been to Lonsdale, the town had held a mystique for me. There was a time in 1961 when I was driving from Hot Springs to Texarkana on Arkansas Highway 70. I passed the sign pointing to the direction of Lonsdale and as my head looked my heart jumped. Until then I had not known exactly where it was located but it made me think of Odis.
