Whether you Hair is curly or straight, black or ginger finding the right shampoo and conditioner is essential.
Dry or Damaged Hair
Shampoo
If you have dry/damage hair then try and look for rich shampoos that will cleanse the hair gently but still get the job done! The shampoo needs to have conditioning ingredient inside it like sheer butter.
Curly hair
If you have curly hair then that means you hair is full of moisture, by curly I mean the type like ringlets (tight curls) then try not to use any shampoo's at all because this is just going to weigh the hair down more and make it more curly! Just use a conditioner.
Wavy or Thick Hair
These types mean that your hair is quite dry, look for rich shampoos and again try to find one with ingredients such as sheer butter, wash your hair every 2 days so that gives your natural oils chance to rise from your scalp.
Coloured hair
When you colour your hair (especially with bleach) then that means your stripping your hair from all your natural oils which tend to make it dry,use color-protecting shampoos, which will contain fewer harsh cleansers and prevent fading. The moisturizers in the shampoo will help restore hair shine and hydrate.
Washing hair
When your washing you hair always wet it first because that gives the shampoo something to cling to. Massage into the scalp using your thumb and 3 fingers. Never use burning hot water because that's adding more heat then needed (the best is just so the water is warmish) try not to touch your hair whilst rinsing out the shampoo because that will transfer all the oils from your finger into you hair
With the conditioner, don't work it into the scalp because that will just create a barrier and it won't let any of the product get through the hair..rub it into the hair without touching the scalp.
Drying hair
When drying your hair there are three possible methods you could possibly use
Air drying
Hair dryer
Towel dry
Air drying is the longest methods but the one which created less damage to your hair.
When using any styling tool that needs to heat Always use a heat protectant! (I will write a separate blog post about this)
Towel drying is a good way because the towel will evaporate all the water from your hair without leaving you hair damaged, don't dry your hair to hard though!
