Developing The Frame photography podcast now available

Last night I launched Developing The Frame, a photography podcast where a different photographer is interviewed each episode about a single frame of their work.

In fact, Developing The Frame is the first of its kind. It’s the first photography podcast that takes an exclusively technical focus and spares you the industry news. I wanted to create a podcast that benefits the listener and the photographer that is being interviewed. The interviewee gets to think deeper about their work and the listener gets to learn their process and listen to a different photographer’s experience.

The first guest on the podcast is Paul Skinner, a film photographer from Sydney, Australia. Paul is a good friend of mine and was kind enough to be the first photographer to walk in front of the microphone. I had to lure him with a beer on Chapel Street when we were both in Melbourne, but we managed to get a fairly detailed analysis of his favourite photo before too many people asked us what the microphone setup was for.

I’ve been talking to photographers of all different genres about appearing on the podcast and I’ve been amazed at how interested people are about sharing their knowledge. Photographers can be the types of people that want to keep their secrets between them and their camera shutter, but this podcast aims to share some of the knowledge from other genres. There’s so many methods for taking a photo, but not as many opportunities to learn them because our lives are becoming so much busier. Delivering opportunity in a podcast allows you to listen to it almost anywhere – in the car on the way to work, at the gym, or anywhere else you can think of where you have headphones or speakers available.

To take a listen you can head over to the dedicated site for the podcast, or you can subscribe directly on iTunes or Stitcher using the buttons below. It would mean a lot to me if you had a spare minute to review the podcast as well, because that’s what Apple and Stitcher like.
