Katie Eary SS17 evokes the power of the ocean

Hard men and Reflective women, each wrapped in the luxury of cashmere and rich, starry silks. Designs to link the memory of working-class, market-town weekend finery to the abstract distraction of hi-viz and the deep blue foreboding of the sea.

A reflective silhouette referencing the sparkling barrier separating politicians from the unwashed public, Evoking the silver shine of barracudas and hammerheads. Apex predators operating outside the law, California dreams-turned-nightmares.

An audience coming together to watch how things fall apart.

Katie Eary said: "It's a fun collection about the dark things that preoccupy me, viewed through a prism of memory and touched by a feeling of luxury."

Models wore Ellesse sandals in the show evoking the sea with Barracuda fish prints on short dresses, Bermudas and hoody coloured with Ocean like metallic blues and stars.

Statement pieces unveiled are mens and womens coats finished with all over coral like fur as well as on the collar, cuffs and hem accompanied by items with splatterings of geometric prints on shorts, shirts and jackets.

Multi-coloured striped jumpers strode down the runway.

Inspiration

Irvine Welsh's The Blade Artist - the latest chapter in the lives of the Trainspotting mob reconnects with Francis Begbie, Leith's most dangerous psychopath.

His slash-and-grab days long past, he's a rehabilitated ex-offender with a posh Californian wife and a successful art career, taking a scalpel to the clay of celebrity, instead of a chib to some other radge's chin.

Called back to Edinburgh to deal with his estranged son's death, Begbie's surface civility disintegrates as he slices through old haunts with murder in mind.

Eary said: "All the subjects I'm inspired by are a reminder of reality, even if they originate in classic fiction as the kind of inspirational characters we normally dare not admit relating to."
