Man in Blue

Watercolor Painting, "Man in Blue", of a Tuareg man who lives in Sahara desert. Tuareg people are nomadic that reside in Saharan parts of Algeria, Niger, Mali, Libya, Nigeria, and Burkina Faso. What is more interesting is that Tuareg men traditionally wear a veil to cover their faces, whereas women do not. The man in this painting covers everything but his eyes for protection from the harsh desert sands and for warding off evil spirits. It also has to do with manhood; men are required to wear the veil when they reach maturity.

I have to say, I really enjoy painting picture of this man. I like the blue shades of fabric and his intense gaze. I think you could actually look into his soul through the eyes.

So, what do you think? I'd love to hear your opinions on the "Man in Blue".
