TV Series - Breaking Bad

Many of UK audiences may not be familiar yet with the work of Vince Gilligan. Breaking Bad is a richly dark funny drama starring Bryan Cranston (Malcolm in the Middle - Dad) as chemistry teacher, Walter White suffering from terminal lung cancer. Wanting to provide for his family, Walter turns to the precise cooking of crystal met (highest quality) with volatile, meth-head and former Chemistry student Jesse.

The show is unrecognisable to any other currently on the market or before. It combines the emotional struggles of family life (Whites son suffers from a life-long disability), the pursuit of happiness, the criminal underground and the flippancy of cooking meth in a camper van. The odd couple relationship between Walter and Jesse, is both mesmerising and engaging with a loose father-son relationship developing throughout the show.

Breaking Bad not only sucks you in, it pours everything you have into it. Supporting characters. Keeping viewers on their hands and knees begging for more wild rides than a theme park.  The series tracks the impacts of a fatal diagnosis on a regular hard working man exploring how such a diagnosis can affect morality while transforming him into a major player of the drug trade.

The show has won a host of awards including AFI TV Programme of the Year, Emmy Awards for Best Actor and Golden Globes for Best Series/Actor.

The fifth and final season of Breaking Bad is airing in the Summer within the US, whilst UK audiences are able to view up to Season 3 on TV and on-demand services like NetFlix.
