Brahmarakshas Telly Review: The Show Opened On A High Note !

TV got a new supernatural show today in Brahmarakshas

The show marks the comeback of many talented actors who have been missing from action so far –  Krystle Dsouza, Aham Sharma, Rakshanda Khan, Abhaas Mehta, and Kishwer Merchantt.

SYNOPSIS

The show started with a Aparajita’s (Kishwer Merchantt) grah pravesh (welcome after marriage) into her husband’s haveli. The lights go off as she keeps her first foot inside. Her mother-in-law gets scared thinking it’s a bad omen. But Aparajita’s Husband, who is madly in love with her, ignores her and enters the house with his wife. Ten minutes into the show and the audience gets introduced to the show’s first twist. Aparajita married her husband only for his property. On the very day of their marriage, she pushes her from the terrace. A big gorrilla is shown.

Cut to 20 years later, we are taken to the posh and high-end bungalow where Rishabh’s (Aham Sharma) sister Rakhi’s engagement preparations are going on. Raina (Krystle D’souza), who is Rakhi’s best friend and her would husband Ajay’s rakhi sister, is extremely happy for her friend. Rishabh and Raina our old friends and share a cute love-hate relationship. Ajay’s parents suggest of having a destination wedding at a palace in Kamalpura. Ajay’s father is aware of the history of the place. He explains to the family that when a dead man’s spirit enters an animal’s body then it becomes Brahamrakshas. He knows that Kamalpura is haunted and is infamous for unusual way of weddings. Inspite of knowing the history, he believes that these our just stories.  Rakhi’s mother, Mohini (Rakshanda Khan) gets extremely tensed to hear that. Ispite of seeing Mohini’s resistance, her husband encourages his samdhans to have the wedding in Kamalpura as he wants them to buy the property.

Mohini calls her brother, who is the head of Kamalpura. She informs him about the situation. He asks her to leave everything to her as he wants the cursed property to be sold at any condition. He asks her to remove all the bridal stuff like vermillion (sindur), bangles etc. from her luggage.

It later turns out that Brahmrakhsas is none other than Aparajita’s husband. Because of what happened with him in the past, he has developed hatred for things related to marriage.

What’s HOT

Krystle and Ahem’s Screen Presence was good. Their charm and super good looks, their chemistry and most importantly their acting kept us hooked to the show. Rakshanda’s screen presence is also impressive. Kishwer Merchantt’s performance blowed our mind. No one could have thought that she could pull off a negative character so well. All these might have stayed away from the camera for a long time but they have definitely not forgotten their craft!

What’s NOT

The main hero of the show i.e. brahmarakshas disappointed us terribly. The character wasn’t convincing! While we understand the show is meant to be seen with family which include kids, we are sure they could have done a lot more than that with the fantasy character. Also we are a bit skeptical about where will the story head as they have already given out a way too much in the first episode itself.
