Working on wood

This is a smaller painting I recently did. 12"x12" acrylic on wood. I coated the wood panel with acrylic medium to seal it and create a smoother less absorbent painting surface. I find this method much better then using clear gesso which can become cloudy. These little fish are much more detailed then I usually work but I think the large blank wood space helps to balance out the high detail in the fish.
