Jenny, 11, and Vivian Chen, 12, desire to follow in the footsteps of their idol Alan Kogosowski after performing with the classical piano great at Federation Square . The Templestowe sisters recently supported Kogosowski at a concert to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of composer Frederic Chopin.
The Strathcona Girls Grammar students began piano lessons when they were 5 years old, and were selected to perform after attending a master class by the renowned performer.
Vivian said it was a fantastic experience to perform in front of so many people.
“We were both very nervous, but once we started playing the nerves went away and we had a great time,” she said.
Strathcona music teacher Georgina Nagy said both the Chen Sisters were “extraordinarily talented” and had a very bright future. The girls said performing with Kogosowski had inspired them to pursue a career as classical pianists.
Alan Kogosowski was born in Melbourne and embarked on his first international tour at 13. He was the youngest person ever to receive a Churchill Fellowship.
