Constantine Finehouse concert to celebrate Chopin, Liszt

Russian-American pianist Constantine Finehouse will perform Thursday, Sept. 22, at the Museum of Russian Icons in Clinton as part of bicentennial celebrations of Frederic Chopin and Franz Liszt.

Finehouse will play selections of works by Chopin, Liszt, Sergei Rachimaninoff and Alexander Scriabin in a Concert starting at 7 p.m. The concert will explore those composers' "musical ideals and use of the piano'' as both a keyboard instrument and "as a human voice and an orchestra.''

Due to Finehouse's popularity, advance purchase of tickets is recommended by calling 978-598-5000. Tickets are $12 for members and $15 for non-members.

Born in St. Petersburg, Finehouse began taking piano lessons when he was 7 years old. After studying in Russia, he moved as a teenager with his family to the U.S. in 1991. The former Newton resident trained at All Newton Music School, New England Conservatory, Julliard and Yale.

Finehouse has performed in the U.S., England, Italy and Russia.

In 2010, he released, "Backwards Glance,'' a highly-praised CD which featured the music of Johannes Brahms and Richard Beaudoin.

The Museum of Russian Icons is located at 203 Union St., Clinton. For information, call 978-598-5000, extension 17 or visit www.museumofrussianicons.org.
