Tattoo Removal, A New Look;

While tattooing is gaining more and more popularity and acceptance, the need to have tattoos removed and/or covered up is also on the rise. More often than not the need to get tattoos removed is because of, as some may put it, an impulsive decision as a youngster that the individual regrets later in life. The Laser Tattoo Removal procedure itself provides such individuals opportunity to undo a past mistake. In addition, the procedure itself has adapted over time to where it is today, a relatively easy procedure. The procedure itself is simply pulsing laser light that breaks up the ink of the existing tattoo ink to smaller sizes that the body can then process it and effectively rid the body of it. However, this is not the quickest procedure. Depending on size, location, skin color, and the color of the tattoo, treatment can take as many as ten visits or even more. Society has begun to be more accepting of tattoos and with that comes the acceptance of the removal processes. As a college student who has a tattoo, a Celtic cross on my right triceps, I believe the impact of laser tattoo removal is nothing but positive. Personally, I got my tattoo at the age of 18, somewhat abruptly. While I do in fact love my tattoo, I believe that having the option to get it removed played a big role in how big it is, and where I got it. Despite growing acceptance of tattoos among society, many professions and occupations don’t allow for them to remain visible during the workday. This may prove to provide some difficulties in the post-graduate period where I would be searching for a career and employment. Luckily, more often than not, the nursing field is accepting of the body art to a certain degree, but if it weren’t, I would be faced with a difficult decision of wearing longer sleeves every day or getting the tattoo removed. This option provides a sense of comfort for me personally because, while I don’t anticipate removing my tattoo, if it was needed it is very doable. Therefore I believe laser tattoo removal is very beneficial for society because it provides a clean slate and a route to, in some cases, rid a wrong.
