You can read the tragic story of Oradour-sur-Glane here. It's certainly one of the most haunting places I've ever visited, I'm not going to say a lot about it because it's the sort of thing that people need to experience themselves. What I will say is that I would make it compulsory for all polititians to spend a day there before they're allowed to take office and go waving their egos about.
