Walking Along The Forest Of Teknaf

High and low cliffs are standing by the side of the main road. A vast garjan Forest is on the foot of the hills and the Burmese border is just beyond the Naf River blowing along the eastern side of the road. Fishermen’s small boats on the blue water of the River Naf and their competition of fish collecting are really attractive to observe. Roaming around the silent forest of Teknaf will give you an unforgettable experience. If you want to enjoy all these events, you are to visit Teknaf, the south most city of Bangladesh. Though, most of the visitors come here to witness the sight of the sea of Coxs Bazar, the appeal of the forests of this area is not weak. One can visit the tourists’ spots of Teknaf namely Game Reserve, Nature Park very comfortably by walking.


Game Reserve

Game reserve is located on the village ‘Muchni’ of Domdomia at Teknaf. It is 8km south of Teknaf and the only one game reserve of the country. It takes 1.5 hours to reach the place from Coxs bazar by road. By visiting this immense reserve you can enjoy different types of fruits and flowers, green woods, wild animals and rare sights of the nature.


Nature Park


Teknaf Nature Park was established within the forest bit of Muchni. It is about 9km north of Teknaf city.
Three walking roads have been created inside thousands of old aged trees. Different resting places are open for all to take rest in Nature Park in case of being tired. You can observe different kinds of wild animals like elephants, monkeys, deer’s and listen their howling by sitting on the observation tower. Accommodation, parking etc are well arranged and out side the Park. It is a part of the Teknaf Game Reserve. During walking along the deep forest you may see wild animals and birds on branches of trees. The howling of wild elephants can be beard. Observation towers on the pick of the hills are suitable places to observe the entire forest as well as the Naf River and the Arakan border of Myanmar. These towers are also perfect to save tourists from the furious wild animals. It takes about two and half hours to complete the journey around the forest. Walking along the road inside the forest will give you extra amusement if you move group wise. Comfortable clothes and shoes are advisable to carry. Goggles and sunscreen cream will protect you from the sun rays.
Umbrella and gumboot are necessary items for rainy season and worm cloths for winter. If you have a binocular, then please carry it with you in the time of journey. Since, there is no facility of food and drinking water inside the forest; it is wise to take snacks and mineral water. Prior permission should be taken before entering the tribal villages. Eco tour guide can be effective to complete the journey safely and within short time. Careless activities such as making noise, disturbing the wild animals are prohibited inside the forest. Dry season (October-March) is suitable to visit Game Forest.
