I first found Gina Rockenwagner because of some insanely unique and gorgeous quilts I saw on Instagram. I knew we had to collaborate in some way. She has a whole arsenal of skills, but we finally settled on one we think you'll all love. Sashiko, a Japanese quilting and embroidery technique, makes great wall art, pillow covers, quilts, and most importantly, it's a beautiful way to mend your denim.
We will cover the following techniques:
Basic Sashiko techniques, appliqué, reverse appliqué, other fun embroidery stitches, as well as simple finishing techniques to turn your patchwork piece into a trivet, pillow or wall hanging. Or, get ambitious and make a quilt! We will cover all you need to know to make your Sashiko dreams come true.
All materials will be provided (denim and fabric to make a trivet, fabric marking pens, needles, thread) along with wine and drinks! Also, feel free to bring your own denim that needs mending.
