USED TO THING by CFB

Tags: band album vocals

Cemetery Family Band has a new album out called: Used to Thing.  It took me until the third track (Idols Of A Ceilinged Sky) to really hear all the instruments come together nicely with Jame’s soft and distant vocals.  The lead singer is also in Body Cheetah.  Just found out he’s in another band that I didn’t know about.  You’ll eventually figure it out if your’e cool enough.

Had to ask CFB some questions:

P.C : How long have you guys been doing music together?

CFB: Well this one was all me, but the past records have been in collaboration since 2011 or so.

P.C: You mean.. you played every instrument along with the vocals?

CFB: Yeah, from the artwork to the mix to the mastering.

P.C: Dam Son, Epic!

Used To Thing is a 16 track monster with an insanely cheap ticket of seven bones.  Don’t take the band name too literal, many tracks have a sweet melodic tone that enthralls me to grab the surfboard and hit the ocean.  As You Wish is one of those acoustic treasures that could’ve been a 60’s or 70’s jewel, instead, is a modern day goodie.  It intrigues the dickens out of me how James didn’t require a full band on this album.  His wonderful mind is all he needs; I reckon.  Breakfast in America pt 3 blends into a track from The Wonder Years in my mind.  You can see that something is going on in Hurt of Solace, really digging the drum beat and lyrics in this song.  Enough of my subpar descriptions of Used To Thing.   Let your ears be your guide.
