Green Lantern : Style but no Substance !

Well to start with, I was thoroughly impressed with the trailer as it was promising fantastic CGI content with Super Hero comedy. So back in June, me and my friends went to watch this film. The story is very convincing and interesting. Just to brush up the plot here is the story " Whole Universe is divided into 3600 Sectors by the Immortals. Each Sector has a protector/peace keeper - The Green Lantern. so we have total 3600 recruits who form Green Lantern Corps. These have ability to travel into intergalactic space and reach their home planet Oa where the Immortals first mastered " Will Power " from every living organism in the universe which inturn drives Energy and Power to grant these fellows the responsibility. The color of Will is Green. so I guess that makes sense everybody being Green. So how do they assemble and Protect is what makes the Comic book and basic plot of this movie and sequels to come if any ". Green Lantern is way more convincing and better in story department than some spider dropping in and bitting Peter Paker which makes a gateway for collision course of spider DNA and Human DNA to finally coexist benefitting Peter Paker to develop Web, Spider sense and stuff , I mean come on !

So everything is fine, I went to the film with my friends with huge pop corn and thumping chilled coke. Movie started well with amazing graphics and story narration. when we are done watching the film, now this is where the truth comes out, we have puzzled look on our faces because THE MOVIE IS DISAPPOINTING. But not as bad as critics rated and went on and on against the movie like some sort of a broken record. The movie is fairly good with superb CGI work, outfits and story line. Movie started great with promising fun but lost its pace in between. There is no fear factor in this super hero movie which is a huge let down. I mean until you are not scared of the Antogonist, how would you think of Super Hero ? and I am 100% sure when I say " Ryan Reynolds definitely not the apt choice for Green Lantern or the Ring :P ". He doesn't have pride or power gestures to portray real super hero. All the movie long he looked puzzled and confused. After the introduction, the only thing that makes you feel interested is the episodes of Parallax - Yellow Fear, how one of immortals was consumed into the dark energy. And again, film drags to the basic point of a SUPER HERO protecting the DAY makes up the ending. Film clearly lacked pace, I mean you cant glue yourself to seats for a super hero film when there are no crazy driving, chill pumping scenes and performances like The Dark Knight right ? The Dark Knight is all about Heath Ledger - The Joker with his psychotic behavior screwing everybody. Green Lantern doesn't have any such performances or I can say, the film wont connect to you emotional to carry you along. Blake Lively is a good choice for Carol Ferris Role. She is beautiful and intelligent and pulled off jet pilot role quite easily. My favorite lines in the film ,

Carol Ferris : You dont think your dad ever felt afraid ?

Hal Jordan ( Ryan ) : If he did, he figured out some way to beat it.

Carol Ferris : yeah, well, there's a word for that : Courage.

But most of the people trashing the film is just so bad. The film is fairly good, but definitely didn't reach expectations and thats where it was disappointing. Clearly, I just cant see Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern. I think James McAvoy should have done wonders as Green Lantern of Earth. The greastest of Green Lanterns - Abin Sur and the representor Sinestro give a small hope of a big battle but didnt happen. So its a good movie with impressive graphics and visuals and grandeur , but definitely not a super hero content film. But it is watchable and you can watch it on a leisurely time and do I recommend it ? yes , afterall everybody loves super heros and kids will just love Green Lantern.

So got time ? Grab it ... else Trash it !
