Leslie Grantham Replaces Dirty Den with a Pen – Casting Spell in Compelling Fantasy Novel.

Leslie Grantham’s career has spanned 35 years, he made his mark on UK television, film and stage history. He’s been in many well know productions including Doctor Who, Jewel in the Crown, Shadow Run, The Paradise Club and as co-presenter of Fort Boyard.

Many of us will now Leslie Grantham as Albert Square’s chilling Dirty Den from Eastenders, which he was in from 1984-1989 and returned to in 2003-2005 to his quirky pantomime forays, Grantham is now adding yet another string to his bow, with the release of his first ever Fantasy novel.

A regular in pantomime as principal lead, producer and director, he spends his spare time writing. Leslie was inspired to write this story after listening to some school kids on a bus discussing their homework, which was about finding King Richard the third’s skeleton under a car park in Leicester.

Jack Bates and the Wizard’s Spell’ breaks new ground by fusing the much-loved hallmarks of fantasy fiction with a wholly unique narrative that is as unconventional as Grantham himself. It’s a rare fusion of folklore and history; a cocktail of adventure that will be keeping lights around the country on late into the night.

Leslie Grantham explained, “Many people don’t know that, behind the scenes and away from the spotlight, I’m a prolific and extremely passionate writer,” he went on to say “I’ve always wanted to write something for the fantasy marketplace and now is a perfect time – the genre is more popular than it has ever been! I certainly hope it brings something new to the market and keeps readers engrossed until the last page.

Grantham also went on to say about the new book, “It really is a very rare fusion of fact and fiction that takes its cues from many of London’s most famous streets, as well as County Cork in Ireland, and then visits an entirely new world that I conceived myself.
