Step 1: Establish the Composition
I started with am mixture of Burnt Sienna and Turpentine, to block in the darkest areas, leaving the middle tones and highlights untouched.
*This step establishes the simple division of light and dark.Step 2: Paint Lower Middle Tones
With mixtures of Yellow Orche and Burnt Sienna, I began to define the smaller shapes in the room, using less Turpentine than before.
Step 3: Upper Middle Tone
I then mixed clean colors of Yellow Orche, Burnt Sienna, and White to lay in the Upper Middle tones, using less Turpentine. The thicker Paint will rest on top of the previous layers.
Step 4: Highlights
The consistence of the paint in this stage is much thicker. The under layers of paint were starting to get tacky. By using thicker paint I was able to create areas of interest and define details by sharpening edges.
Final Step: Details
The details are put in at the end. Every step has built up to this point.*By using a limited palette, it is easier to create a clean color harmony.
