Quick Facts
  • As a native New Orleanian, my creativity has been inspired from the built environment and the ever-changing Landscape from which it emerges.

  • While working with a  non-profit Historic preservation center in New Orleans, I was involved in the 10-year restoration of my own – a Victorian-era home in the Lower Garden District. The restoration further fueled my passion for the city, maps and historic architecture, which has been my absolute muse for my mixed media art and jewelry.

  • Over the past couple of years, I spent nine months traveling with my partner throughout remote regions of the Brazilian Amazon, finding inspiration and experiencing life on a much different river than my beloved Mississippi.

Official Bio

Brandi received her BSM from Tulane University and studied at Penland School of Craft, as well as the New Orleans School of Metalsmithing.

Her jewelry work comprises metal etchings of historic New Orleans maps and map imagery, some culled from the archives and dating from as early as the 1700s.

From raw sheets of metal, these pieces are transformed into adornment through a handcrafted process of ink overlays, etchant emersion, natural oxidation and handpainted patinas. These sheets are then worked into wearable ornaments that immortalize transitory scapes of New Orleans’ history: from trade routes and forgotten swamps to abandoned asylums whose architectural residue still decorates the landscape today.
