Hello to all!
I’m doing something a little different today. I’ve never done a first impression post before now, but this anime caught my attention, and I feel I need to write my thoughts on it.

Re:Creators is a new anime that starting airing recently, and so far, I think we can expect a lot from it.

Without going into too much detail, our main Character is a student named Sota, who dreams of writing the best story the world has ever seen. One day, after getting home from school, a character from an acclaimed anime comes to life in front of him, a female mecha fighter named Selejia Yupitiria.

After a battle with an unknown girl who claims to have brought Selejia to our world, the “Realm of the Gods,” she and Sota start adjust back into a somewhat normal life.

I, for one, really like the concept this anime is working with. Selejia is a fictional character to us, but to her, everything about the story she was part of was her “real world,” her life.

She lived and breathed everything about her story, but to readers and viewers, it was just that… a story. Maybe it’s just me, but it kind of makes me wonder about the characters that others and I read about in novels, and even the characters in my own stories.

The animation and designs of the characters and settings are beautifully designed. But to me, the visual appeal pales in comparison to the questions it poses in regards to storytelling and fiction, with one sticking out above all others…

For writers and artists, to the characters that we create, and the worlds that we build… are we their gods? Are we really creators?
