How To Create Your Own WhatsApp Channel

To access the new Channels feature, update your WhatsApp app. Once updated, users will spot the Channels option either on the main window or within the Updates tab. Creating a channel is a straightforward process accessible to all WhatsApp users:

• Locate the “+” icon to the right of the Channels option.
• Tap on it to initiate the channel creation process.
• You’ll be prompted to provide a name and upload an image for your channel.
• Importantly, there is currently no set limit on the number of channels you can create.

Privacy Features Of WhatsApp Channel

As a channel admin, your phone number and profile photo remain concealed from your followers. Similarly, when you follow a channel, your phone number stays private, concealed from both the admin and fellow followers.

The choice of whom to follow is entirely yours and is kept confidential, in accordance with WhatsApp’s disclosed information.

WhatsApp has implemented a policy of retaining channel history on its servers for a maximum of 30 days, as they believe there’s no need to indefinitely store channel updates.

What Content Can WhatsApp Channel Admins Share?

Administrators have the freedom to share various content on their public channels, including photos, text messages, and links.

They also have the option to restrict screenshots and forwards. In a public channel, followers are unable to send messages or replies but can express their reactions using emojis.

“We’re enabling admins to control their channel’s followers and discoverability in the directory. While Channels aims for broad audience reach, it’s important to note that channels are not end-to-end encrypted by default,” the company clarified.
