White t-shirt

You can make any fashion statement you desire with a plain white t-shirt. Untucked and paired with distressed denim, it can turn you into a rebel. If you team a close-fitting t-shirt with a cute cardigan and elegant black trousers, it can make you sophisticated, yet laid back. These pieces are especially handy in winter, as plain white t-shirts can be layered with anything from blazers to tank tops.

Sleek flats

Over the years, fashion icons ranging from Audrey Hepburn to Alexa Chung have professed a fondness for classy ballet flats. These shoes work for any occasion, whether you pair them with jeans and a t-shirt in the day, or decide to wear them with a beautiful cocktail dress in the evening. You can also store these shoes easily in your handbag, slipping them on when you’re tired of wearing stilettos.

Little black dress

With a little black dress, you can mix high end and high street like a pro. These pieces serve as the perfect canvasses, allowing your designer items to take pride of place in your outfit. Little black dresses are also fantastically versatile. They work just as well with statement sunglasses and colourful hats in the summer, as they do with elegant military coats, turtle necks, trousers and boots in the winter.
