I Tried the Brand Behind Amazon's Bestselling SPF, and It Deserves More Hype

As someone who spends a good chunk of time on social media (OK, who doesn't?), that's how I've become acquainted with some of my now-favorite beauty products. Among them: the Byoma Creamy Jelly Cleanser, the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask, and now, the Drmtlgy Tinted Moisturizer With SPF 46 ($28). The first time I came across it was on TikTok, where a creator influenced me to scoop up the mineral SPF - and boy, I'm glad I did.

Since scooping up that Tinted moisturizer a few months back, my collection of Drmtlgy products has grown to include serum, moisturizer, and undereye patches, and there's not one item I haven't liked. Plus, TikTokers continue to rave about it on social media. So if you're wondering what's the big appeal, and which products should you add to your curation? Keep reading for my honest review of the brand, starting with some fast facts.

What I Like About Drmtlgy

For starters, I appreciate the packaging, which is understated and chic. I like how it looks uniform on my bathroom counter and that new launches from the brand maintain a consistent aesthetic. As for the formulations themselves, my favorite product in the brand's lineup is - you guessed it - the Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 46. I'm not alone in this sentiment, either: it's the number one (!) selling tinted moisturizer on Amazon. Much like countless others, I, too, love this chemical sunscreen formula. It's lightweight, imparts a natural glow, has a high SPF factor, and protects against both UVA and UVB rays.

I'm still in the process of testing the brand's Needle-less Serum ($60) and Peptide Night Cream Face Moisturizer ($40) because I like to wait a full four to six weeks to give a thorough review of their effectiveness, but as of now, I'm pleased to report positive results. Neither product has triggered any sensitivities, and my complexion looks as glowy and clear as ever.

I've also loved using the Brightening Eye Masks ($44), which I even employed the morning of my wedding day. You get a ton of masks (60, to be exact), each fully saturated in a lightweight serum that leaves your undereyes looking revitalized and hydrated.

And finally, the product I didn't expect to fall in love with but did is the Natural Fresh Linen Mist and Room Spray ($15), particularly the "Fresh Linen" scent. I was shocked by how on-the-nose the smell is; it smells exactly like freshly laundered fabric. I spray it on everything and fear the day I run out.

How to Use Drmtlgy

Using Drmtlgy products is easy. Not only does the brand have instructions on the back of each bottle, but its website offers even more information. That aligns with what cofounder Scott Futterman tells me over the phone: that the company is highly focused on educating customers. That's why the brand's website so clearly outlines when to use each product and in what order.

Another detail that makes using Drmtlgy's products easier is that there's a skin quiz on its website that takes less than a minute and tells you which products are best for you. I like that they don't require your email for results (thanks to the "skip" button), and the quiz even lets you specify the number of products you're comfortable with. This way, it doesn't seem like they're pushing excessive sales. Here's what they suggested for me:

Last but not least, the brand's website serves as an invaluable resource for delving into the intricacies of its product ingredients. Take, for instance, the page dedicated to the Universal Tinted Moisturizer. Here, the brand shares a peer-reviewed article and summarizes it into layman's terms for a better understanding of what's inside the product.

What to Consider Before Trying Drmtlgy

Regarding Drmtlgy as a brand, I have minimal reservations. While it's true that you could likely discover more budget-friendly options for tinted moisturizers and cleansers, it's important to acknowledge that these products do perform their intended functions quite effectively. The crux of the matter is this: if you're seeking solid results and a pleasant experience, these offerings fit the bill.

The only thing I think you should pause to consider is the brand's hero product: the Universal Tinted Moisturizer. This particular product has undoubtedly generated substantial buzz, and as a fervent advocate myself, I can attest to its appeal. Yet, it's important to note that the formula itself is hardly tinted and ultra-sheer, so it doesn't double as foundation in the way that many are used to with other tinted formulas. Nevertheless, individuals with deeper skin tones have shared positive feedback, dispelling concerns of any lingering white cast.

Where Is Drmtlgy Available?

Drmtlgy is available direct-to-consumer at drmtlgy.com and select products are available on Amazon as well.
