(In fact, did you know that the UV index is often at its highest when it's overcast out?) Because it's so important to protect your skin from sun damage, the key is to find a formula you actually like using. Luckily, I recently discovered a new glowy sunscreen that just hit the market for under $20 to help with that.
Introducing: Bubble's Plus One Tinted Daily Mineral SPF 40 Sunscreen ($19). Not only is it formulated with SPF 40 - the American Academy of Dermatology recommends a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher - but it's also tinted, which can help lend the skin a little coverage while keeping it healthy. I put it to the test over the Fourth of July weekend, and can honestly say I'm impressed. I've tried out tons of tinted sunscreens, but considering the price and lasting power of this one, I plan on using every last drop this summer.

What I Like About Bubble's Plus One Tinted Daily Mineral Sunscreen SPF 40
The first thing I want to note about this sunscreen is that it's a mineral formula, meaning it reflects UV rays instead of absorbing them, creating a barrier between my skin and the sun. As an avid sunscreen user, I definitely lean toward physical options because I feel like I'm better protected, but that's just my personal preference. In addition to the mineral aspect, the formula is made up of lots of good-for-you ingredients like cupuacu seed butter to moisturize the skin and raspberry seed extract, which gives antioxidant protection.
While my skin type is normal, my eyes are extremely sensitive, so testing out new formulas is always a flip of the coin as to whether it will irritate that area. In fact, the day before first testing out this tinted sunscreen, I had an allergic reaction to a new mascara, so I wasn't sure how my skin would react to something new. Thankfully, I experienced zero stinging in the eye area after applying the sunscreen.
How to Use Bubble's Plus One Tinted Daily Mineral Sunscreen SPF 40
The brand recommends prepping your skin with your usual skin-care products before applying the sunscreen, and I did just that, putting on an under-eye serum and moisturizer. Once my skin was properly prepped, it was time to apply the SPF, and the formula was nothing like I was expecting. It was lightweight in texture and didn't have a creamy feeling; it was more watery, and upon application, it felt like I was wearing nothing at all.
During the summer months, I don't like to wear heavy makeup day-to-day, so along with the tinted sunscreen, I put on a dab of concealer under my eyes, some blush, eyebrow gel, and curled my lashes. The end result looked super glowy, and I love how it evened out my skin tone.
What to Consider Before Trying Bubble's Plus One Tinted Daily Mineral Sunscreen SPF 40
Although I didn't experience any white cast when using this product, I do have a lighter skin tone, and it's worth noting that some people with deeper skin tones sometimes experience white casts when using zinc oxide products. That said, I do think the added pigment in this SPF could help offset that issue. Otherwise, I think Bubble's Tinted Sunscreen is definitely worth a try, even you have sensitive or acne-prone skin.
If you're looking for a summer skin tint that's lightweight and breathable, this one is the best I've tried in a while - and at an amazing price point, too.
