In Dark Night of the Soul, Worth explores the act of transformation through suffering in a series of fifteen oil paintings. Inspired by both the Occult and female experience, the artist utilizes meticulous layering techniques to craft scenes from fairytales gone awry, swirling seamlessly between the sweet and surreal and inevitably dipping into the valley of the morbid. Her work is deeply personal often depicting imagery that is both familiar and enigmatic and draws deeply on the symbolic power of rebirth. Through this iconography, the artist aesthetically documents a philosophical crisis arising from tragedy while simultaneously taking the viewer on a visual journey involving injury, loss, tragedy, and how these things affect us in the end.

The current exhibition continues Worth’s exploration of her own knowledge and experiences through the act of creation. Dark Night of the Soul touches on the idea of being wounded and the ability of tragedy to turn you into a different person than you previously were. The acts of mourning and survival are intimate experience and different for each person who has
experienced them. – From the Press Release
