UPDATE: Starting December 6 at 10pm, outdoor dining is being shut down in San Francisco until at least January 4th.
It took a lot of legwork and phone calls, but we’ve uncovered 320 restaurants and bars (so far) that are opening for outdoor dining.

Here’s our list. Please note we’ve done our best to get all the details correct, but hours of operation and menus may change without notice during these early days so please contact the restaurant to confirm first before heading out.
Streets Closed for Outdoor Dining
- SF – Valencia Street – Car free and tables allowed in streets between 16th and 17th streets and 18th and 19th streets between 4 pm and 10 pm from Thursdays until Sundays.
- SF – Chinatown – “Walkway Weekends” Enjoy a stroll down iconic Grant avenue and Commercial for outdoor dining, historic walk, and Asian shopping under vibrant red lanterns every Saturday and Sunday through Sept 20, 2020. Tables typically set up 11am to 5pm.
- SF – Japantown – “Picnic on the Plaza” every Saturday & Sunday through September 27, 11:30 am to 8 pm
- SF – Castro – 18th Street one block east and west of Castro street – Every Sunday 1pm to 10pm
- SF – Hayes Valley – Hayes Street for three blocks (btwn Franklin and Laguna) plus a portion of Octavia – closed Fridays (4-10pm) and Saturdays and Sundays (10am to 10pm)
- SF – Sunset Dist – Irving between 19th and 20th Avenues – Closed Thursday and Friday (3:30-11p) plus Saturday and Sunday (10:30am to 11pm) starting August 20th.
- SF – SoMa – Stevensen between 6th and 7th Streets – scheduled to be closed Thursdays 4-9pm starting September 10th through December 17th.
- SF – Lower Polk – Austin Alley (at Polk St. between Pine and Bush) This new open public space will offer food service from El Lopo, Grubstake Diner, Ben Thai, Vegan Picnic and Batter Bakery and is closed to vehicle traffic for a pedestrian-friendly and physically distanced outdoor dining experience. Seated patrons can order food and beverages from any of five participating businesses. Guests in the Plaza are also welcome to bring in takeout food from any restaurant in the neighborhood. Hours of Operation: Sun/Tues/Wed/Thurs 3-9pm; Fri/Sat 3-11pm; Closed Mondays
- SF – Tenderloin Golden Gate Avenue – Through December, one block of Golden Gate Avenue in the Tenderloin will be closed to vehicle traffic four days a week. Golden Gate Avenue between Larkin and Hyde streets will be closed between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m., from Thursday through Sunday, every week.
- SF – Tenderloin Larkin Street – Beginning Thursday, September 17 and will continue through December, two blocks of Larkin Street in the Tenderloin will be closed to vehicle traffic four days a week between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m., from Thursday through Sunday. Larkin Street between Eddy and Ellis streets and Larkin Street between Ellis and O’Farrell streets will be closed. The intersection of Larkin and Ellis streets will not be affected.
- San Jose – Downtown – San Pedro St. between Santa Clara and St John is now dedicated to outdoor dining with other streets to follow

- Marina – Dragon Well – Parklet. Dragon Well has been locals favorite Chinese restaurant for over 22 years. Made with natural ingredients – Dragon Well is the ultimate healthy comfort food.
- Marina – Roam Artisan Burgers – Roam Artisan Burgers is a premier fine-casual dining destination with six locations in the Bay Area that source flavorful, nutrient-rich meats from animals that are humanely raised on open pastures serving proteins, salads, soups, sides, shakes and sodas crafted from fresh seasonal ingredients. Roam’s San Francisco restaurants on Union Street and Fillmore Street are currently open for outdoor dining, takeout and delivery from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

- Mission Dist. – Atlas Cafe – Parklet with unique sandwiches, pizzas and great salads. Vegan, vegetarian and carnivore options. Beer, wine, kombucha on tap and fantastic coffee drinks
- Mission Dist. – Sushi Shio – Delicious omakase sushi in a warm and serene back patio. Four small tables but they can be joined to seat slightly larger parties.
- Mission Dist. – Zeitgeist – Happy Hour – Beer Garden with glass partitions between picnic tables. Open 7 days a week (4-8pm M-W, 9-2pm+4-9pm Th, 3-10pm F, 1-10pm Sat, 1-6pm Sun), with 22 picnic table “booths” seating up to 8 patrons each. With 18 beers on tap, full bar & classic burger menu, Zeitgeist is continuing to offer its classic experience, albeit with servers at the tables and a bunch of sanitizing. - Nob Hill – Flippers Gourmet Burgers – Sidewalk Tables serving 100% Niman Ranch 1/2 lb burgers, newly opened, applied for outdoor seating.
- NoPa – Madrone Lounge – The Madrone Art Bar parklet patio is now open Tuesday-Sunday 4-9pm for socially responsible food, drinks & music. 22 Outdoor Seats, bring layers.
- NoPa – Ragazza – Ragazza, which means girl in Italian, is an homage to the amazingly talented female cooks in owner Sharon Ardiana’s family. Ragazza is an Italian restaurant, featuring Neapolitan-style pizzas using local farm fresh produce and is also known for its hearty salads. Ragazza has an enclosed, but open air heated patio gazebo, which is now accepting reservations for dining. Ragazza has been a San Francisco Chronicle Top 100 restaurant and is a neighborhood favorite. Ragazza is also open for limited indoor dining and for takeout.

- SoMa – OASIS – Rooftop dining is pretty cool. Drag performances throughout the day. This was a booming drag club (with an awesome “Sex in the City Live” show. Now turned restaurant and drag delivery service (Meals on Heels). Website says: Fridays 5pm – 9pm Saturdays 4pm – 9pm Sundays 3pm – 8pm
- Union Square – Pabu – Terrace seating with heaters. Outdoor dining terrace with heaters. Features the finest sourced fresh seafood, which is flown in daily from Japan’s famed Toyosu Market.
- West Portal – Spiazzo – Shared Spaces Dining in Street. Neighborhood fave with reasonably priced Italian cuisine
