According to officials, Air India will introduce two A350 aircraft this year for which it has received DGCA certification and anticipates having six of these aircraft in its fleet by the end of March 2024. The airline ordered 470 aircraft, including 40 A350-900/1000 aircraft, in February.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has granted Air India a Letter of Type Acceptance (LoTA) for the induction of two A350 aircraft, the A350-900 and A350-1000.

Rolls-Royce engines are going to power both aircraft. The airline will introduce the two wide-body planes this year, according to a company executive. Air India anticipates having a total of six A350 aircraft by the end of March next year, the official added.

The Tata Group acquired Air India from the government in January of last year, and it currently operates a fleet of 126 aircraft. There are 52 wide-body Boeing 787 and 777 planes included in this. A third of Air India’s entire wide-body fleet will have contemporary seats and in-flight entertainment systems by March 2024.

By the end of this financial year, the six new A350s, along with the five leased B-772 LRs and nine additional B-777 ERs also bringing on board, will result in a 30% increase in the size of the wide-body fleet.
