Visit to Cafe Dalal Street : Delhi’s first Stock Exchange Bar

Cafe Dalal Street is located in the heart of Delhi at Connaught Place. It sprawls over a huge area of 5000 sq. feet with a seating capacity of 100 people and capacity to in-house 350 pepped up on the dance floor in prime Central Delhi location.

This restaurant is based on the novel concept of stock exchanges. Brainchild of two enthusiastic youngsters from the financial background, Himanshu Gupta and Vidit Gupta came up with a different vision of giving Delhites not just a regular bar but something which is quirky as a concept and interesting to play around.

The restaurant features an innovative multicuisine menu. The ambience is truly a depiction of Dalat Street in Mumbai. The entire place has been divided into sections with each area having its own vibe and definition.

They have a huge bar with special seating on the bar and a separate PDR section has a rich yet cosy feel to it. The space overall has a grungy vibe with a big Bull face installation on the walls. The led tickers and TV screens all across make the space very lively interactive and buzzy thereby enriching the experience of being in a real stock market. A spectacular terrace overlooking some of the most prominent buildings of Connaught Place adds a zing to the entire place.

How it works:

Drinks start at a base price and are governed by the laws of demand and supply. Based on frequency of order and the time periods within which different customers place orders, the demand of a particular Drink, wine or beer grows or declines and the prices go up or down.

Once every day, the market crashes as well, so customers can trade their favourite drinks and purchase at rock bottom prices. Trading then begins all over again from this new set base price.

For Starters

Butter Chicken Golgappe

Quite innovative dish where you are given Golgappe/Panipui along with a separate bowl which has chicken filling and gravy is like water as what you fill in Golgappe,
but these golgappes are pretty hot as the gravy is Hot.

Burnt Chilly Crispy Chicken

Its basically Wok tossed Chicken in Sweet Chilli Glaze .

It was crispy, mild sweet and had amazing flavors.

Main Course

Parsi Mutton Dhansak with Fragrant Parsi Mutton Pilaf

Since its a cuisine by Parsi communiy which has thrived in India , Dhansak was pretty good , mutton pieces were succulent and the rice quality as well as quantity both were good.

In Drinks :

We tried the Chocolate Martini and Thai Mojito.

Both were quite good actually , drinks quenched our thirst.
