BREAKING: Rivers Assembly Begins Impeachment Process On Governor Fubara

The Rivers State House of Assembly has initiated the process of ousting Governor Siminalayi Fubara, according to TVC News.

The assembly members began the impeachment proceedings at 8:00 a.m. on Monday at the legislative building.

In addition, the assembly has suspended Hon. Edison Ehie, the Leader of the House, and four other lawmakers due to their alleged involvement in the arson attack on the House.

It is reported that 24 out of the 32 lawmakers voted to remove Ehie and the others from their positions.

Earlier, the Rivers State House of Assembly was set on fire by suspected political thugs.

The legislature had planned to impeach the accused individuals during their resumed sitting on Monday, following undisclosed issues.

As a result of this event, some youths invaded the assembly complex and set it ablaze.

A senior police officer in the state, who did not want to be mentioned confirmed the development, adding that it took efforts of police and the state Fire Service teams to put out the fire.
