Internet Fraud: Court issues production warrant against Naira Marley

The Federal High Court in Lagos has issued an order for a reproduction warrant to be issued for Azeez Fashola, also known as Naira Marley, to appear in court on the next adjourned day.

Currently in police detention for his alleged involvement in Ilerioluwa Aloba’s death, Naira Marley is facing cybercrime-related charges filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The charges against him include conspiracy to use a stolen credit card and possession of a counterfeit credit card.

Naira Marley was absent from court on Friday, and his lawyer, Olalekan Ojo SAN, informed the court that his client was in police custody due to voluntarily surrendering himself for questioning regarding the death of another hip-hop artist, Ifeoluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad.

Ojo requested the court to issue a reproduction warrant for Naira Marley’s presence in court on the next adjourned day.

The EFCC’s prosecuting counsel, Bilikisu Buhari, did not oppose the request. She confirmed that Naira Marley was in police custody and that efforts were being made to ensure his attendance at the next court sitting.

Justice Nicholas Oweibo adjourned the case till October 30, 2023, and ordered that a reproduction warrant be issued for Naira Marley to be produced in court on that day if he is still in police custody.
