The labour dispute between the Federal Government and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) will be resolved in two weeks, according to an agreement reached on Tuesday.

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Simon Lalong, announced this after a meeting with the TUC at the ministry’s headquarters in Abuja.

The TUC President, Festus Osifo, led the Congress leadership to the meeting, while the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) boycotted it.

The meeting took place shortly after the NLC started a two-day warning strike to protest the removal of Fuel Subsidies and other Government policies.

Lalong stated that the TUC has agreed to wait for two weeks for the federal government to address the demands of organized labor regarding palliatives to lessen the impact of the fuel subsidy removal on Nigerians.

Following the removal of fuel subsidies in the country, the Federal Government approved the release of N5 billion to each of the 36 states last month to purchase food and other necessities for vulnerable Nigerians.
