Chelsea agree £45m deal for Manchester City’s Cole Palmer

Chelsea have agreed a deal worth up to £45m to sign Cole Palmer from Manchester City, with the forward set to undergo a medical at Stamford Bridge.

An agreement in principle has been reached for Palmer to move to Chelsea for an initial fee of £40m, with a further £5m dependent on add-ons.

Fabrizio Romano is reporting that a ‘quick resolution’ has been found between the clubs, while Palmer has given Chelsea the ‘green light’ to a move to Stamford Bridge.

Palmer was keen to secure more regular football this season after starting just twice in the Premier League in 2022/23. Brighton, West Ham and Burnley had been linked with the versatile forward, but Chelsea are now closing in on a deal.

Palmer impressed as England won the UEFA U-21 European Championship during the summer, scoring once and creating two assists in the semi-final, before his free-kick deflected in off teammate Curtis Jones to secure a 1-0 win over Spain in the decider.

The winger has scored six goals in 41 senior appearances for Manchester City and netted in both the Community Shield and UEFA Super Cup earlier this season.
