Ministry of Finance Boss Held by Police Over Suspected Murder

Mwila Kasase, a 47-year-old assistant director at the Ministry of Finance, has been arrested in Lusaka on suspicion of murdering her husband, Alex Kanyama Zulu.

Following her husband’s death last week, Kasase took to Facebook to express her grief, coping with the tremendous loss:

“Dearest husband, this has shattered me. I’m at a loss, struggling to find words. How do I mourn you? How can I go on without you? Bashi Madiba, the pain is unbearable,” she sorrowfully posted.

However, suspicions among family members were aroused after Zulu’s funeral, prompting the police to delve into the matter, and the revelations that followed were heart-wrenching.

Investigations unveiled that Zulu’s death was a result of a brutal assault inflicted by his wife and their two sons. The violent incident occurred because Zulu had taken longer than expected during a business trip, delaying the return of the family car.

Initial reports indicate that the victim, Zulu, had been conducting business in Lusaka and returned home late into the night. During this time, his wife, Kasase, was away visiting a friend, temporarily absent from their home.

The narrative took a dramatic turn when Kasase contacted her son, Madiba Zulu, instructing him to pick her up from her friend’s location, using her husband’s vehicle.

A complication arose when it became apparent that the vehicle was not accessible, as Zulu had not yet returned.

In her frustration, Kasase sought alternative transportation to get back home, but her agitation was palpable.

Unfortunately, her return marked the commencement of a disturbing chapter, as she purportedly teamed up with Madiba Zulu to administer a physical punishment to her husband for not arriving home early.

In this violent attack, they employed unconventional weapons, including a plank and various kitchen utensils.

The dubious circumstances surrounding her husband’s untimely demise led his relatives to demand a thorough post-mortem investigation.

Yesterday, around 12:30 hours, the lifeless body of Alex Zulu was exhumed for a comprehensive post-mortem examination, carried out within the confines of the cemetery.

The findings revealed a harrowing tale of suffering – the deceased had suffered broken bones, fractured limbs, shattered ribs, and a multitude of agonizing bodily injuries, all attributed to the alleged assault.

Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga confirmed the incident and stated that investigations were still underway.

From police cells, Kasase and her son now await the completion of the necessary procedures for a lengthy incarceration, as the Zambia Correctional Service has ample transportation to transfer them to any prison facility within the country.
