There have been reports indicating that Liverpool is in discussions to secure a surprising loan signing of Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain.
According to The Mirror, Liverpool and PSG are currently engaging in talks about a potential one-year loan for the unsettled star, with Liverpool agreeing to pay a fee for the deal.
PSG is keen on offloading Mbappe this summer due to his refusal to sign a contract extension.
After PSG accepted a record-breaking bid of £259 million ($332 million) from Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal, the 24-year-old rejected the offer.
Mbappe’s existing contract with PSG is set to expire next year, and the club believes that he has already agreed to join Real Madrid as a free agent in 2024.
In order to both remove Mbappe from Paris and recoup some funds, a loan agreement with Liverpool may be the only viable solution.
Notably, Mbappe is a known admirer of Liverpool and manager Jurgen Klopp. Thus, the chance to play in the Premier League and potentially join Real Madrid in 2024 would likely be appealing to him.
