Naturi Naughton (born May 20, 1984). Brenda Naughton, a part-time paralegal, and Ezra Naughton, a retired accountant, raised her in East Orange, New Jersey. Her father is from the U.S. Virgin Islands, while her mother is from Raleigh, North Carolina.

Her musical skill was discovered when she was five years old and joined the choir at New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey (the same church where Whitney Houston performed in her youth).

Education

Her musical training was continued at the Newark School of the Arts. In Montclair, New Jersey, she attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School and Immaculate Conception High School. She has sung the national anthem at several New Jersey events and attended Seton Hall University.
